How to Run Multiple Whatnot Accounts (2026)

Yes, you can have more than one Whatnot account. Whatnot's help center says it plainly: "You can have multiple buyer accounts on Whatnot." Seller access is limited to one account at a time unless Whatnot approves you for a second, and the bar for that is published. You don't need a proxy for any of it.

What gets Whatnot accounts in trouble isn't owning two. It's using the second one to get round a ban, to enter a giveaway twice, to collect extra referral credit, or to bid on your own items. Those are all banned by name, and a different IP address doesn't change any of them. So we'd tell almost everyone reading this not to buy one.

What Whatnot allows

Can I have two separate Whatnot accounts?

Yes. Whatnot's article Use multiple accounts on Whatnot opens with "You can have multiple buyer accounts on Whatnot." It then explains how to add them, switch between them and remove them, which is about as clear a yes as a platform gives.

Can I have two Whatnot seller accounts?

Only if you're approved. The same article says "You can only have seller access on one account at a time unless you're approved for more." A second buyer account is fine for anyone. A second shop isn't, until you meet the requirements below and Support says yes.

Who qualifies for a second seller account?

Whatnot lists four requirements, and you have to meet all of them: lifetime sales over the equivalent of 100,000 USD before fees, or more than 1,000 orders; at least 10 shows hosted in the past 30 days; a seller rating above 4.8; and not being on a second offense in any category under its enforcement guidelines. If you meet them, you apply through Support. If you don't, Whatnot says the application won't be approved.

Why would Whatnot give a seller a second shop?

Whatnot's own reasons are to "grow your brand, run multiple shows, or sell in another category". So a card shop that wants a separate sneaker channel is the case it has in mind, as long as the first shop is already big and well rated.

How many Whatnot accounts can you have?

Whatnot doesn't publish a number for buyer accounts, so we won't invent one. One answer on r/whatnotapp says the app lets you add and switch up to 8 accounts; the help article doesn't give a limit. The firm rules are one email per account and one seller account unless you're approved.

Can you merge two Whatnot accounts?

No. Whatnot's FAQ says "We don't currently support merging accounts or transferring data." Decide what each account is for before you build a purchase history or a following on it, because you can't combine them later.

How to add and switch Whatnot accounts

Whatnot built the switching tool itself, so there's nothing clever to set up. These steps come from its help center.

How to create a second Whatnot account

Go to your profile, tap the arrow next to your username and choose Create a new account. Whatnot's Create a Whatnot account page says "Each email address can only be used for one Whatnot account", so the new one needs a different email. It also asks for a valid phone number, since you'll need both to log in or recover the account later.

How to add an account you already have

Same menu, but choose Add existing account and sign in. Both accounts then sit in the switcher on that phone.

How to switch between Whatnot accounts

Go to your profile, tap the arrow next to your username and pick the account you want. That's the whole process on an iPhone.

Why can't I see the Account Switcher?

Because it's iOS only for now. Whatnot says it's "currently available on iOS only" and still rolling out. On Android and on the web you log out of one account and into the other.

Do I get notifications for every account?

No. Whatnot only sends push notifications for the active account, and it clears the previous account's notifications when you switch. If you're waiting on a show or an outbid alert, stay on that account.

How to remove an account from the switcher

Profile, the arrow, Manage, then Sign Out on the account you want gone. The app moves you to the next saved account automatically. Signing out isn't deleting; the account still exists.

What Whatnot bans

None of Whatnot's rules punish you for owning two buyer accounts. They punish what a second account gets used for. Here's each one in Whatnot's own words, from its Community Guidelines, which are part of its Terms of Service:

RuleWhatnot's wordsWhat it means for multiple accounts
Enforcement evasionNo using Whatnot "with a different account" after a ban, suspension or restrictionA second account can't be the way back in
Related accounts"Account action and removal may extend to related user accounts"A ban on one account can reach the others
Shill biddingBids by a seller or a related user "whether from the same or separate accounts"Your buyer account can never bid in your own shows
Giveaways"Multiple entries aren't supported" and no "automated or programmatic giveaway entry"One person, one entry, however many accounts
ReferralsNo multiple accounts "to receive additional referral credits"A second account to refer yourself risks a permanent ban
Account sales"Accounts should be used only by the account owner"Buying an account, or raids and follows, is out
ResponsibilityAll activity on your account is yours, including guests and employeesStaff mistakes land on your shop

Can you get banned for having multiple accounts on Whatnot?

Not for having them. Multiple buyer accounts are allowed in writing. You can get banned for what you do with them, and the Guidelines say action "may extend to related user accounts", so one account breaking a rule can take the others with it.

Can I make a new Whatnot account if I'm banned?

No. The enforcement evasion rule says Whatnot doesn't allow users who've been "banned, suspended, or restricted to use Whatnot with a different account". It also says it sometimes reinstates accounts, depending on how serious the violation was and how long ago it happened. Appeal the original instead of starting over.

Can I delete my Whatnot account and make a new one?

Whatnot's help pages we read don't cover deleting and re-joining. Two things are clear, though: each email works for one account, and if the reason for starting fresh is a restriction, a new account is the enforcement evasion the Guidelines ban.

Giveaways, the reason most people ask

"Whatnot multiple accounts for giveaways" is one of the top related searches, so here's the straight answer. It doesn't work, and Whatnot designed it not to.

Can I have multiple Whatnot accounts for giveaways?

You can own them, but they won't get you extra entries. Whatnot's FAQ answers this exact question: "Multiple entries aren't supported. You must be present in the show when the giveaway happens."

What happens if I switch accounts during a giveaway?

Whatnot says "If you switch accounts on the same device, your previous account leaves the show and is removed from the giveaway." So switching to a second account in the middle of a show swaps your entry, it doesn't add one.

What about a second phone for giveaways?

That's a second entry from the same person, which is what "Multiple entries aren't supported" rules out. A different IP on the second phone doesn't change who's entering, and the person running the show can see the same names turning up.

Are giveaway bots allowed on Whatnot?

No. The giveaway abuse rule says "We strictly prohibit any form of automated or programmatic giveaway entry." Entries made that way are voided and account access can be limited. A proxy under a bot doesn't make the bot allowed.

Shill bidding, the rule sellers trip over

This is the rule that turns an innocent second account into a problem, and it's wider than most sellers think.

Can I bid in my own Whatnot show from my buyer account?

No. Whatnot defines shill bids as bids "placed by a seller, or a user related to a seller in order to artificially inflate the item price, whether from the same or separate accounts". Your own buyer account is the most related account there is.

Can my family bid in my Whatnot shows?

Whatnot's definition names "members of a seller's family or household, as well as friends or online connections" and the seller's employees. Our view: keep everyone close to you out of your own auctions entirely. It's the simplest way to never have to explain a bid.

Does Whatnot watch bids?

Yes. The Guidelines say "Whatnot monitors all bids and transactions and takes action on accounts suspected of shill bidding". They also point out that shill bidding may break the law where you live, not just Whatnot's rules.

Households, staff and helpers

Can two people in the same house have Whatnot accounts?

Whatnot's pages we read set no limit per household or address. Each person with their own email, phone number and payment details is simply two users. The household rule that does exist is the shill bidding one: if one of you sells, the other shouldn't bid in those shows.

Can I have two seller accounts in the same household?

Two different people can each apply to sell on their own account. One person with two shops needs the second-seller approval. Our view: if both shops are really one business run by one person, apply for the second account properly rather than putting it in a partner's name.

Can I use the same PayPal or card on two Whatnot accounts?

It's a common r/whatnotapp question and Whatnot's help pages we read don't answer it. Whatever the answer, a shared payment method ties the accounts together far more firmly than any IP ever could, which is fine for your own buyer accounts and the opposite of fine for anything the rules ban.

Can employees run my Whatnot shows?

Whatnot's account responsibility rule assumes they do: it covers "employees' streaming and fulfillment", and says it may act on the accounts of guests and employees involved in a violation as well as yours. So staff are allowed, and what they do counts against your shop.

Can I share my Whatnot login with a helper?

The Guidelines say "Accounts should be used only by the account owner." What we'd do: treat that as the rule for logins, keep your password to yourself, and don't buy or borrow anyone else's account. If someone helps with your shows, the responsibility rule still makes their actions yours.

Our recommended setup

This is our advice, built on Whatnot's published rules. It's the setup that keeps several accounts easy to run and nowhere near a rule.

Step 1: decide what each account is for

A main buyer account, a second buyer account for a separate hobby or budget, and your shop. Accounts can't be merged, so the split you choose now is the split you keep.

Step 2: one real email and phone number each

Whatnot allows one account per email and uses your email and phone for log-in and recovery. Use inboxes you'll keep, not throwaways you'll lose.

Step 3: use the switcher, not a second phone

On iPhone the Account Switcher does the job. One phone with all your accounts is the setup Whatnot built for, and it's the one that can't be mistaken for a second person entering a giveaway.

Step 4: never bid in your own shows

Not from your buyer account, not from a family member's. If you want an item you're selling, don't list it.

Step 5: apply properly for a second shop

If you meet the four requirements, contact Support. Note that Early Payout doesn't carry over, so the new shop starts from scratch on payouts.

Step 6: fix problems on the account that has them

A warning or restriction belongs to one account. Moving to another account to keep going is the enforcement evasion rule, and it can pull your other accounts in with it.

First month on an approved second shop

Whatnot doesn't publish a ramp-up plan for a second seller account, so this is our recommendation. The aim is a second shop that builds its own buyers instead of borrowing the first one's.

WeeksWhat to doAvoid
1Set up the profile for the new category, run short shows at a regular timeCopying the first shop's name and branding so closely buyers get confused
2Ship inside Whatnot's two-business-day window, every orderLetting the new shop slow down the first shop's shipping
3-4Run giveaways through Whatnot's own Giveaway feature, by its rulesFriends or staff bidding to warm up the room
5+Mention the new shop on the first one's shows if it fitsBuying raids or follows to make it look busy

The rules Whatnot publishes

Here's what Whatnot has put in writing. Anything not in this table, like accounts per IP or per device, isn't published, and a guide quoting you a number for it is guessing.

Accounts per IP or deviceNot published-

Whatnot doesn't publish how it decides accounts are "related". Here's what it can plainly see, and which of those a proxy changes. Most of the strong links are ones you can't change and shouldn't try to.

Payment methods and payouts

The card you pay with and the bank account a shop is paid into. No proxy touches either.

Shipping address and name

Every order ships somewhere. A seller in a Whatnot resellers Facebook group asked about ten accounts buying from their shop with the same buyer name and address, which tells you how visible this link is even to other users.

Email and phone number

One email per account, and a phone number for log-in and recovery. Different for each account, by Whatnot's rules.

The phone you use

Whatnot's switcher puts several accounts on one phone, and its giveaway rule is written around "the same device". Sharing a phone between your own accounts is the normal, intended setup.

The IP address

Accounts used at home share it. A proxy changes this signal and only this one, and nothing Whatnot publishes suggests it's the one that matters.

Who bids where

Whatnot "monitors all bids and transactions". Accounts that keep turning up in the same seller's auctions, or the same giveaways, are linked by behaviour, and behaviour is entirely up to you.

Do you need a proxy for multiple Whatnot accounts?

No, in almost every case. Here's how we'd decide.

Two buyer accounts: no

Allowed in writing, switchable in the app, fine on one phone and one Wi-Fi.

A second shop: no

It needs Whatnot's approval, not a disguise. Once approved, there's nothing to hide.

Two people in one house: no

Two users, one router. Just keep out of each other's auctions if one of you sells.

Extra giveaway entries: no, and nothing here helps

Multiple entries aren't supported and automated entries are banned, whatever IP they come from.

A new account after a ban: no, and nothing here helps

The Guidelines ban it, and your payment, address and payout details tie the accounts together whatever the IP.

What antidetect-browser guides leave out

A page-one result for this search sells a setup with a separate browser fingerprint and proxy per Whatnot account. Whatnot doesn't ban the accounts you'd open in the open, and it gives you a switcher for them. The only reason to hide the link is to do something its rules name: dodge a ban, double up on giveaways, farm referrals or bid on your own lots.

Mistakes that get Whatnot accounts restricted

Bidding in your own show from a second account

Shill bidding "whether from the same or separate accounts". The most avoidable mistake on this list.

Letting family or staff bid to get things moving

Named in the shill bidding definition, alongside friends and online connections.

Entering one giveaway from several accounts

Multiple entries aren't supported, and switching on one phone drops the earlier account anyway.

Running a giveaway entry bot

Automated or programmatic entry is banned, entries are voided and access can be limited.

Referring yourself

A second account for referral credit can mean a permanent ban, in Whatnot's words.

Opening a new account after a restriction

Enforcement evasion, and the action can spread to your related accounts.

Buying an established seller account

Accounts can't be sold or transferred, and buying raids or follows is banned under the same rule.

Running a second shop without approval

Seller access is one account unless Whatnot approves more. The bar is published, so you know before you ask.

Which IP type, if you use one at all

Whatnot publishes no rule about IPs, and the views below are our advice, not its rules. For the general reasoning behind accounts and IPs, see how many accounts per mobile proxy.

ConnectionWhat it looks likeOur view for Whatnot
Your phone's data or home Wi-FiAn ordinary subscriberRight for all your own accounts
Dedicated mobile lineA phone on a US carrier, shared with ordinary subscribers through CGNATNothing to gain for your own accounts
Residential poolSomeone's home address, rotated between customersNo reason to use it for buying or selling
Datacenter or VPNA hosting company's addressShared with strangers; nothing to gain
Free proxy listsA stranger's serverNever for an account with your card on it

Does Whatnot block VPNs?

The Whatnot pages we read don't mention VPNs. A shared VPN or datacenter address carries other people's history, which is IP reputation, and you can't see what that history is. Our view: for an app that holds your card and your payouts, a live show is a bad place to find out.

How many Whatnot accounts per IP would we run?

Our recommendation: all of your own accounts on your normal connection. Mobile carriers already put many subscribers behind each address through CGNAT, and Whatnot is mostly used from phones, so several accounts on one IP is ordinary. What Whatnot's rules care about is how each account bids and enters.

Where White Cloak fits

We sell dedicated US mobile proxies, so weigh this accordingly: you almost certainly don't need one for Whatnot. Multiple buyer accounts are allowed, a second shop is an application rather than a workaround, and a proxy can't untie your card, address and payouts from accounts that share them. The same is true on eBay, Etsy and Poshmark, which all allow more than one account in writing. Where our product does earn its place is platforms with different rules, like Craigslist, where posting location matters, or ticket queues and SNKRS, where we explain what an IP can and can't change. You can test a line on the free trial.

Need a dedicated US carrier IP for work Whatnot doesn't cover? HTTP and SOCKS5 credentials are issued instantly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I have two separate Whatnot accounts?

Yes. Whatnot's help center says you can have multiple buyer accounts, and its Account Switcher lets you move between them on iOS. Each account needs its own email address.

Can I have two Whatnot seller accounts?

Only with approval. Whatnot allows seller access on one account at a time unless you qualify: lifetime sales over 100,000 USD before fees or more than 1,000 orders, at least 10 shows in the past 30 days, a seller rating above 4.8, and no second offense in any category.

Can you get banned for having multiple accounts on Whatnot?

Not for having them, since multiple buyer accounts are allowed. Whatnot bans using another account to get round a ban or restriction, shill bidding from related accounts, extra giveaway entries and extra accounts for referral credit, and action can extend to related accounts.

Can I have multiple Whatnot accounts for giveaways?

They won't give you extra entries. Whatnot says multiple entries aren't supported, you must be present in the show, and switching accounts on the same device removes the previous account from the giveaway. Automated giveaway entry is prohibited.

Can I make a new Whatnot account if I'm banned?

No. Whatnot's Community Guidelines don't allow users who have been banned, suspended or restricted to use Whatnot with a different account. Whatnot sometimes reinstates accounts depending on the severity of the violation and the time since it happened.

Why can't I see the Account Switcher on Whatnot?

Whatnot's Account Switcher is currently available on iOS only. On Android and the web you log out of one account and log in to the other.

Can I use the same email for two Whatnot accounts?

No. Whatnot says each email address can only be used for one Whatnot account, so a second account needs a different email.

Can I merge two Whatnot accounts?

No. Whatnot doesn't currently support merging accounts or transferring data between them.

Can my family bid in my Whatnot shows?

Whatnot's shill bidding rule covers bids by a seller's family or household, employees, friends and online connections when they inflate the price, from the same or separate accounts. Whatnot monitors all bids and transactions.

Do I need a proxy for multiple Whatnot accounts?

No. Whatnot allows multiple buyer accounts on one phone, and your payment details, address and payouts link your accounts whatever IP they use.
