How to Run Multiple Poshmark Closets (2026)
Yes, you can run more than one Poshmark closet, and you can run them from the same phone, the same Wi-Fi and the same address. Poshmark's Terms of Service don't ban a second account. They ban creating one "to evade punishment or avoid restrictions", and Poshmark's own tax help is written for sellers who "operate multiple Poshmark closets". You don't need a proxy for it.
What gets Poshmark closets in trouble isn't the number of them. It's a new closet opened after a suspension, and sharing bots, which the Community Guidelines ban by name. A different IP doesn't fix either one, so we'd tell almost every reseller reading this not to buy one.
What Poshmark allows
Can you have two Poshmark accounts?
Yes. Nothing in Poshmark's Terms of Service limits you to one account. The only account-count rule is in the list of things you can't do: you can't "create multiple account to evade punishment or avoid restrictions". A second closet for a different reason isn't on that list.
Does Poshmark admit people run multiple closets?
It does more than admit it. Poshmark's help article I have multiple closets. How will I receive my Form 1099-K? says that if you "operate multiple Poshmark closets", it combines your gross sales across all of them as long as each account has the same SSN or TIN. A platform that bans second closets doesn't write tax help for them.
How many Poshmark closets can one person have?
Poshmark doesn't publish a maximum, so we won't invent one. Its rules are per account: accurate identity information, a password you keep to yourself, and you're "solely responsible for any activity on your Account". Two closets means two sets of those responsibilities.
Do you need Poshmark's permission for a second closet?
This is the most repeated claim on page one, and it isn't in Poshmark's current rules. A YouTube video from five years ago says written permission is required, a Quora answer from seven years ago says the old rules of conduct asked for it, and answers in the Poshmark sellers Facebook group still say to contact Poshmark first. The Terms of Service effective October 3, 2024 and today's Community Guidelines don't say it. What we'd do: if a second closet matters to your income, email Poshmark support before you open it and keep the reply. It costs nothing and settles it for your account.
Is it one closet per person?
Some resellers say so. One answer on r/BehindTheClosetDoor says Poshmark "only allows one closet per person". Poshmark's own 1099-K article, which describes one person with several closets and one SSN, says otherwise.
What Poshmark bans
None of Poshmark's rules limit owning several closets. They limit why you open them and what you do with them. Here's each one in Poshmark's own words:
| Rule | Poshmark's words | What it means for multiple closets |
|---|---|---|
| Dodging consequences | No "create multiple account to evade punishment or avoid restrictions" | A second closet can't be the way round a restriction on the first |
| After a suspension | Circumventing includes "creating new or duplicative accounts" | A fresh closet after a suspension breaks the Terms |
| Someone else's account | Or "continuing to access the Service from another User's account" | A friend's closet isn't a way back in either |
| Automation | No "unauthorized programs or other forms of automation", including "liking, sharing, following, and unfollowing" | Sharing bots are banned on every closet you run |
| Spam | "excessively reposting the same item for sale" | Listing one item in two closets at once is the obvious version |
| Account sales | No transfer or sale of an account without Poshmark's prior written consent | Every closet you run should be one you opened |
| Identity | Accurate information; Poshmark may ask for ID or proof of address | Each closet is tied to a real owner |
Why a closet after a suspension is the one that ends badly
Poshmark's Terms say any attempt to get round a suspension "may result in additional actions against you and any other users facilitating such circumvention". So a new closet after a ban doesn't just risk the new closet, it puts anyone who helped you at risk too.
How does Poshmark know if you have multiple accounts?
Poshmark doesn't publish how. Its Terms say it can ask you for identification documents, proof of address or business information, and that "The name on your Account will be considered the Account owner." Your tax details tie closets together as well, since that's how Poshmark combines them on a 1099-K. Anyone who tells you the exact signals is guessing.
Can Poshmark close an account without telling you why?
Yes. The Terms say Poshmark may suspend or terminate an account "at our discretion without explanation". That's the real reason to stay well inside the rules on every closet: there's no guarantee of a warning first.
The sharing rule, which matters more than the IP
Sharing is how Poshmark closets get seen, and it's where most resellers with several closets cut corners. Poshmark's Community Guidelines are blunt about it.
Are Poshmark sharing bots allowed?
No. The Guidelines say "we don't allow Poshers to use unauthorized programs or other forms of automation to participate on Poshmark", and they list "deleting and reposting content, liking, sharing, following, and unfollowing". An auto-sharer running on two closets is two closets breaking the same rule.
Can someone else share my closet for me?
Yes. The same sentence opens with "Poshers are welcome to recruit human helpers". A person sharing your listings is allowed; a program doing it isn't. Remember the Terms still make you responsible for everything done on your account, so pick that person carefully.
Does a proxy hide a sharing bot?
We wouldn't count on it, and we won't sell a line for it. A bot is banned because of what it does, not where it connects from. Hiding its address doesn't change the behaviour Poshmark is looking at, and nothing Poshmark publishes says the IP is what it checks.
Is it spam to list the same item in two closets?
The Guidelines call "excessively reposting the same item for sale" spam. Our view: one item belongs in one closet. Two closets with the same listings look like the same seller twice, and if the item sells in one, the other listing is a cancelled order waiting to happen.
Households, partners and helpers
Can two people in the same house have Poshmark accounts?
Nothing in Poshmark's Terms or Guidelines limits accounts per household or per address. It's one of the most common questions on r/poshmark, and the worry usually comes from other marketplaces with stricter rules. Our view: each person with their own closet, their own email and their own payout details is two sellers who happen to live together, which is ordinary.
Can I have two Poshmark accounts at the same address?
Poshmark doesn't publish a rule against it. If both closets are yours, the 1099-K article already assumes they share one owner. If they belong to two people, each one is the account owner Poshmark's Terms describe.
Can my partner and I share one closet?
The Terms make "The name on your Account" the owner and that person responsible for all activity on it. A shared closet works as long as you both accept that one of you is the owner on paper. If you want separate earnings and separate tax forms, open two closets.
Can a teenager in the house open their own closet?
Poshmark's Terms say users aged 13 to 17 need a parent or guardian's permission, under its Minors Policy, and nobody under 13 can use it. A teen's closet is separate from yours, with the parent's permission behind it.
Selling for someone else without running their closet
Poshmark runs a Consignment Network where sellers, called Closet Partners, list items for other Poshers from their own closet. If the reason for a second closet is selling a friend's things, that's the built-in route, and it doesn't involve signing in to anyone else's account.
How to open a second Poshmark closet
This is our recommended setup. Poshmark requires accurate identity information and a password you keep to yourself; the rest is what keeps two closets easy to run and out of trouble.
Step 1: decide what the second closet is for
A different niche, like menswear next to vintage home goods, or a household member's own closet. A second closet because the first was restricted isn't a reason; it's what the Terms ban.
Step 2: ask support if your income depends on it
The written-permission rule isn't in today's Terms, but an email to support costs nothing. Keep the reply with your records.
Step 3: a separate email you'll keep
Poshmark's pages we read don't publish a rule on emails per closet. What we'd do: one real inbox per closet, so order notices, offers and policy emails land in the right place.
Step 4: the same taxpayer details if both closets are yours
Poshmark combines closets for the 1099-K when the SSN or TIN matches, and you get one form per number. Different details on a closet that's yours is a tax problem, not a privacy trick.
Step 5: one browser profile per closet
Chrome, Edge and Firefox keep cookies separate per profile, so you stay signed in to each closet and never share or list from the wrong one. That's convenience, not concealment.
Step 6: keep the closets out of each other's business
No offers, purchases or bundles between your own closets, and no sharing one closet's listings from the other on a schedule. Two closets that only ever promote each other look like one seller trying to look like two.
Step 7: fix problems where they start
If one closet gets a warning or a restriction, deal with it there. Moving the stock to the other closet is the exact thing the Terms describe as avoiding restrictions.
A first month for a second closet
Poshmark doesn't publish a warm-up schedule, so this is our recommendation. The aim is a new closet that grows like a new closet.
| Weeks | What to do | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Fill in the profile, list a handful of items with your own photos, share by hand | Copying listings and photos from your first closet |
| 2 | List steadily, share your own and other sellers' listings, ship fast | Any sharing tool or auto-follow program |
| 3-4 | Answer comments and offers quickly, take part in Posh Parties if your items fit | Offers or purchases from your other closet |
| 5+ | Let a human helper share if you need one | Handing a bot your login because the closet got busy |
The rules Poshmark publishes
Here's what Poshmark has put in writing. Anything not in this table, like closets per person or per IP, isn't published, and a guide quoting you a number for it is guessing.
| Rule | Poshmark's answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Multiple closets | Not banned; taxed together by SSN/TIN | Terms of Service, 1099-K help |
| New account to avoid punishment or restrictions | Not allowed | Terms of Service, s.4 |
| New account after a suspension | Not allowed | Terms of Service, s.16 |
| Human helpers | Welcome | Community Guidelines |
| Automated sharing, liking, following | Not allowed | Community Guidelines |
| Selling or transferring an account | Only with Poshmark's written consent | Terms of Service, s.2 |
| Identity checks | ID, proof of address or business information on request | Terms of Service, s.2 |
| Closets per person or per IP | Not published | - |
What links Poshmark closets together
Poshmark doesn't publish how it links accounts. Here's what it can plainly see, and which of those a proxy changes. Most of the strong links are things you can't change and shouldn't try to.
Your name and identity
The name on the account is the owner, and Poshmark can ask for ID to prove it. No proxy touches this.
Your SSN or TIN
Poshmark uses it to combine closets for tax reporting. It's the hardest link there is, and it's one Poshmark expects.
Payout details and shipping address
Where the money goes and where the labels ship from. A different IP doesn't change either.
The phone and the app
Closets used from one phone share it. That's normal for one person running two closets, which Poshmark's tax help describes.
The IP address
Closets used from one home share it. A proxy changes this signal and only this one, and nothing Poshmark publishes suggests it's the one that matters.
How the closets behave
Bots, closets that only share each other, the same item listed twice. This is the link that gets closets in trouble, and it's entirely up to you.
Do you need a proxy for multiple Poshmark closets?
No, in almost every case. Here's how we'd decide.
Two closets for two niches: no
Same phone, same Wi-Fi, same taxpayer details. Poshmark's own tax help describes that exact setup.
Two people in one house: no
Two owners, two closets, one router. There's nothing to hide.
A helper sharing for you: no
Human helpers are welcome under the Guidelines. Where they connect from doesn't change that.
A sharing bot: no, and nothing here helps
Automation is banned whatever IP it runs on. We won't sell a line to run one.
A new closet after a suspension: no, and nothing here helps
The Terms ban it in so many words, and your name, tax details and payouts tie the closets together whatever the IP.
What antidetect-browser guides leave out
Several page-one results for this search sell a setup with one browser fingerprint and one proxy per closet, and one is titled as a guide to batch-registering accounts. Poshmark doesn't ban a second closet you open in the open. The only reason to hide the link is to get round a restriction or run automation, and those are the two things its rules name.
Mistakes that get Poshmark closets restricted
Running an auto-sharer
Named in the Community Guidelines, along with automated liking, following and unfollowing.
Opening a closet after a suspension
"creating new or duplicative accounts" is in the Terms as an example of getting round a suspension. Appeal the original instead.
Moving stock to a second closet after a restriction
That's using another account to "avoid restrictions", in the Terms' words.
Listing the same item in both closets
Spam under the Guidelines, and a cancelled order when it sells twice.
Buying an aged closet
Accounts can't be sold or transferred without Poshmark's written consent, and the name on it won't be yours.
Different taxpayer details on closets that are both yours
Poshmark combines closets by SSN or TIN for the 1099-K. Splitting them doesn't hide anything from Poshmark, and it makes your own tax reporting harder.
Moving a sale off Poshmark
Sales that start on Poshmark have to finish on Poshmark. Pointing a buyer from one closet to a deal elsewhere breaks the Off-Site Transactions Policy, however many closets you run.
Which IP type, if you use one at all
Poshmark publishes no rule about IPs, and the views below are our advice, not its rules. For the general reasoning behind accounts and IPs, see how many accounts per mobile proxy.
| Connection | What it looks like | Our view for Poshmark |
|---|---|---|
| Your phone's data or home Wi-Fi | An ordinary subscriber | Right for all your own closets |
| Dedicated mobile line | A phone on a US carrier, shared with ordinary subscribers through CGNAT | Nothing to gain for your own closets |
| Residential pool | Someone's home address, rotated between customers | No reason to use it for selling |
| Datacenter or VPN | A hosting company's address | Shared with strangers; nothing to gain |
| Free proxy lists | A stranger's server | Never for an account that holds your payouts |
Does Poshmark block VPNs?
The Terms and Guidelines we read don't mention them. A shared VPN or datacenter address carries other people's history, which is IP reputation, and you can't see what that history is. Our view: for an app that holds your earnings, there's no upside worth that.
How many Poshmark closets per IP would we run?
Our recommendation: all of your own closets on your normal connection. Mobile carriers already put many subscribers behind each address through CGNAT, and Poshmark is mostly used from phones, so several closets on one IP is ordinary. What Poshmark's rules care about is how each closet behaves.
Where White Cloak fits
We sell dedicated US mobile proxies, so weigh this accordingly: you almost certainly don't need one for Poshmark. Multiple closets aren't banned, helpers are welcome, and a proxy can't untie your name and tax details from closets that share them. The same is true on eBay and Etsy, which both allow multiple accounts in writing. Where our product does earn its place is platforms with different rules, like Craigslist, where posting location matters. For social accounts run by an agency, see mobile proxies for social media agencies, and you can test a line on the free trial.

Do I need permission from Poshmark to open a second closet?

Why can't I make a new Poshmark account?
Poshmark doesn't publish a list of reasons. If an earlier account was suspended or restricted, its Terms ban creating new or duplicative accounts to get round that, so appeal the original account instead.
How does Poshmark know if you have multiple accounts?
Poshmark doesn't publish its methods. Its Terms say it can ask for identification documents or proof of address, and it combines closets with the same SSN or TIN when it issues Form 1099-K.
Can two people in the same house have Poshmark accounts?
Poshmark's Terms and Community Guidelines set no limit on accounts per household or address. Each person is the owner of their own account and responsible for what happens on it.

Poshmark combines gross sales across all your closets when the same SSN or TIN is entered for each account, and you receive one Form 1099-K per SSN or TIN.
Are Poshmark sharing bots allowed?
No. The Community Guidelines don't allow unauthorized programs or other forms of automation, including deleting and reposting, liking, sharing, following and unfollowing.
