How to Run Multiple eBay Accounts (2026)

Yes, you can run multiple eBay accounts from the same IP, the same computer and the same internet connection. eBay's own policy says "Users may have multiple accounts on eBay", and its help center explains how to open a second one. You don't need a proxy for it.

What eBay bans is using those accounts together in ways that cheat: two accounts on the same listing, a new account to get round a restriction, or accounts swapping feedback. And it says plainly that if it restricts one account, "similar restrictions or limits may be applied to the member's other linked accounts." That sentence is why proxy guides exist for eBay, and it's why we'd tell most sellers not to buy one: hiding the link to dodge a restriction is the exact thing the policy calls out.

What eBay allows

Can you have multiple eBay accounts?

Yes. eBay's multiple accounts policy opens with "We understand that eBay members might want different accounts for buying or selling, or to focus on different product lines." Its list of what's allowed is one line long: users may have multiple accounts.

How many eBay accounts can one person have?

eBay doesn't publish a maximum, so we won't invent one. It sets rules per account instead: each one needs its own email and username, and each one has to meet eBay's buyer and seller standards on its own.

Can I have multiple eBay accounts for selling?

Yes. Separate product lines are one of the two examples eBay gives itself. Every selling account is held to the seller standards separately, so a second store means a second set of performance numbers to keep healthy, not a place to park problems from the first one.

Can I use one account for buying and one for selling?

Yes, and it's the other example eBay gives. Its FAQ answers this one directly: use the accounts "in whatever way works best for you", but buying and selling policies apply equally to both.

Can I use the same email for two eBay accounts?

No. eBay's account creation help says you can open more than one account "as long as you use different email addresses and usernames for each additional account." If you want to move an email from one account to another, eBay makes you remove it from the first and wait 60 days.

Can two eBay accounts share a bank account or address?

eBay's help pages we read don't forbid it, and an eBay Community answer on page one of this search says your accounts can share the same bank details. What eBay's help does say is that your bank account type should match the account type: a business bank account goes with a business eBay account. Shared details link the accounts, which is fine, because eBay allows them to be yours.

Can two eBay accounts have the same phone number?

eBay's help pages don't publish a rule on this either way. Registration asks for a contact address and phone number, and we'd assume eBay can see when two accounts share one. Since sharing an owner is allowed, that's not a problem in itself.

What eBay bans

None of eBay's rules limit owning several accounts. They limit what you do with them. Here's each one in eBay's own words:

RuleeBay's wordsWhat it means for multiple accounts
Same listing"you can't use more than one account for activity related to the same listing"No bidding on one item from two accounts, and no bidding on your own item from another account
Getting round limitsNo "using other existing accounts to avoid buying and selling restrictions or limits"A second account can't be the way round a selling limit on the first
New accounts after troubleNo "Registering new accounts" to avoid "other policy consequences"A fresh account after a suspension or restriction breaks the policy
FeedbackNo "Registering multiple accounts" to "exchange feedback"Your accounts can't buy from or rate each other to build a score
Account tradingNo "Buying or selling eBay user accounts"Every account you run should be one you opened
Linked restrictions"similar restrictions or limits may be applied to the member's other linked accounts"Trouble on one account can reach the others

Why you can't bid on your own item

eBay's help names it directly: you can't "bid on an item you're selling from another account." Bidding up your own listing is shill bidding, and it's the first thing anyone thinks of when they hear "two eBay accounts". It's also the clearest reason eBay watches how accounts that share an owner behave.

Does eBay know if I have multiple accounts?

eBay's policy talks about a member's "linked accounts", so it plainly connects them, and it tells you to appeal if it has "linked your account in error". It doesn't publish how. A thread on r/Ebay answers this the same way most sellers do: yes, and using a second account to work around a selling limit is at your own risk.

How to open a second eBay account

These are eBay's own steps. It takes a few minutes on the computer and connection you already use.

  1. Sign out of the eBay account you're using now.
  2. Go to eBay's Registration page.
  3. Register with an email address and username that aren't on your other account.
  4. Choose a personal or business account. A business account asks for your business name, type and address.
  5. Verify the account from the email eBay sends you before you buy or sell.

How to create another eBay account with Google, Apple or Facebook

eBay lets you register with any of the three, but each one uses that login's email address. If that email is already on your first eBay account, eBay asks for your eBay password to link them instead of opening a new one. For a second account, register with a different Google, Apple or Facebook login, or with a plain email address.

Personal or business account?

Pick carefully. eBay's help says that once a personal account is upgraded to a business account, it can't go back. If you're opening a second account for a business, register it as a business from the start.

If you have staff: Team access instead of more accounts

A lot of "multiple eBay accounts" searches are really "how do I let my VA list items". eBay built a feature for that, and most proxy guides never mention it.

What Team access is

Team access (formerly Multi-user account access) lets other eBay users work on your account in Seller Hub "without exposing your passwords". You pick what each person can do: drafts, publishing listings, orders, shipping labels, returns and disputes, promotions, ads, and messages.

How to invite someone

  1. Opt in to Seller Hub if you haven't.
  2. Go to Team access in My eBay and select Add user.
  3. Enter the person's name and email, choose permissions, and select Add user.
  4. They accept within 24 hours, when unaccepted invites expire, and turn on two-factor authentication, which eBay requires.

How many people can work on one eBay account?

eBay says "There is no limit to the number of users that can be granted access to your account." It also says there's no limit to how many accounts one person can be given access to, and each helper sees a banner showing which account they're acting for, with a Switch account button.

Does a VA need a separate IP to manage my store?

No. With Team access your VA signs in to their own eBay account, so eBay sees them as who they are, a helper with permissions, not as you logging in from somewhere odd. eBay keeps an activity log of everything they do. eBay's own tip is for employees to make a new eBay account used only for your business, so their personal buying stays separate.

Running several accounts on one computer

Can I use multiple eBay accounts on the same computer?

eBay's help describes opening a second account by signing out of the first and registering, on the same machine, with nothing about devices. One of the top eBay Community answers for this search says the same: you may create and use multiple accounts on the same device and internet connection.

Staying signed in to both

Use one browser profile per account. Chrome, Edge and Firefox all keep cookies separate per profile, so you stay signed in to each and never list an item on the wrong account. That's convenience, not concealment, and it's all most sellers need.

Multiple eBay accounts on iPhone or Android

eBay's help pages we read don't cover switching accounts in the app. What we'd do: keep the app signed in to your main selling account and use a mobile browser for the other, so you aren't signing out and back in all day. Keep track of which email goes with which account; it saves a lot of "where did my order go" confusion.

Two people with eBay accounts in the same house

This comes up constantly on r/Ebay and in Facebook seller groups. Households share one internet connection by default, and eBay's policy is about a member's own accounts, not everyone on the Wi-Fi. Our view: keep separate accounts, separate emails and separate payment details, and don't let the accounts trade with each other, and a shared connection isn't something you need to fix.

eBay doesn't publish how it links accounts, and anyone who says they know the exact signals is guessing. Here's what eBay can plainly see, and which of those a proxy changes. On eBay, most of the strong links are things you can't change and shouldn't try to.

Your name, address and phone

Collected at registration. If two accounts are both you, they're both you. No proxy touches this.

Bank account and payout details

Where the money goes is about the hardest link there is. A different IP doesn't change who gets paid.

Browser, cookies and device

Accounts used from one computer share a device and a browser fingerprint. eBay's own instructions describe that setup.

The IP address

Accounts used from one home share it. A proxy changes this signal and only this one. eBay Community threads ask whether changing the IP stops a restriction reaching the second account, and nothing eBay publishes suggests the IP is what links accounts, rather than everything above.

Trading between accounts

Accounts that bid on, buy from or leave feedback for each other are doing what eBay's rules ban. This is the link that gets accounts in trouble, and it's the one that's entirely up to you.

Do you need a proxy for multiple eBay accounts?

No, in almost every case. Here's how we'd decide.

A buying account and a selling account: no

It's one of eBay's own examples. Same computer, same connection, different emails.

Two stores for different product lines: no

Also eBay's own example. Each store meets the seller standards on its own; the network they share doesn't matter.

Staff or a VA working on your store: no

Use Team access. It's free, it logs who did what, and your password never leaves your hands.

An agency managing several clients' stores: usually no

Ask each client to add you through Team access, and you can switch between their stores from one eBay login. If a client insists their account is only reached from a fixed address, that's their call, and a dedicated line is one way to give it.

A way round a restriction, a suspension or a selling limit: no, and nothing here helps

eBay's policy bans it in so many words. A new IP doesn't make it allowed, and your name, address and bank still tie the accounts together. We won't sell a line for it.

What antidetect-browser guides leave out

Several page-one results for this search sell a setup with one fingerprint and one proxy per account, so eBay can't "cross-link" them. eBay's own policy says you're allowed multiple accounts in the open. The only reason to hide the link is to stop a restriction spreading, and the policy names that as the thing you can't do. One YouTube seller in these results says a unique IP matters more than identity verification; eBay publishes nothing that supports that.

Running several eBay accounts well, step by step

This is our recommended setup. Only the email, username and listing rules are eBay requirements; the rest is what keeps several accounts easy to run and out of trouble.

Step 1: decide what each account is for

Buying versus selling, or one product line each. A second account to get more selling room than eBay gave the first isn't a reason; it's the evasion the policy bans.

Step 2: one email and username per account, ones you'll keep

A real inbox you control. It's how eBay reaches you about orders, returns and policy notices, and moving an email later costs a 60-day wait.

Step 3: the right account type from day one

Business for a business, with a matching bank account. A personal account upgraded to business can't be switched back.

Step 4: verify, then start small

Verify the account from eBay's email before you list. If eBay puts limits on what a new account can sell, its help explains how to raise them, and the multiple accounts policy says a second account isn't the way.

Step 5: one browser profile per account

So you're signed in to each and never list, bid or message from the wrong one.

Step 6: keep the accounts out of each other's listings

No bids, no Best Offers, no purchases and no feedback between your own accounts. Ever. It's the rule eBay names first.

Step 7: fix problems where they start

eBay expects you to bring an account back into good standing "before continuing to buy or sell with other accounts." If one account gets a warning, deal with it there.

A first month for a second selling account

eBay doesn't publish a warm-up schedule, so this is our recommendation. The aim is a new account that sells like a new account, not one that copies the first.

WeeksWhat to doAvoid
1Verify the account, set up payouts and business policies, list a handful of items with your own photosCopying listings from your first account
2List steadily inside your selling limits, ship fast, upload trackingHitting the limit on day one and opening another account for more
3-4Answer messages quickly, handle returns cleanly, let feedback come from real buyersPurchases or feedback from your other accounts
5+Ask eBay to raise limits once you have a track record; add Team access if staff helpSharing your password with helpers instead of using Team access

The rules eBay publishes

Here's what eBay has put in writing. Anything not in this table, like accounts per person or accounts per IP, isn't published, and a guide quoting you a number for it is guessing.

Mistakes that get eBay accounts restricted

Bidding on your own listing

Named in eBay's help as the example of what you can't do with two accounts.

Two accounts bidding on the same item

Same rule, from the buying side. It doesn't matter whether you meant to push the price or just forgot which account you were on, which is one more reason for separate browser profiles.

Opening a new account after a restriction

"Registering new accounts" to avoid "other policy consequences" is the policy's wording. Appeal or fix the issue on the original account.

Using a second account to get more selling room

Getting round a buying or selling limit with another account is listed under not allowed. Ask eBay to raise the limit instead.

Feedback between your own accounts

The feedback manipulation policy names "Registering multiple accounts" to exchange feedback. Small purchases between your own accounts to build a score are the textbook case.

Buying an aged account

"Buying or selling eBay user accounts" is banned outright, and an account opened by someone else isn't linked to your name, address and bank the way eBay expects.

Sharing your password with staff

Team access exists so you don't have to. With a shared password, eBay sees one account and has no record of which person did what; with Team access, every action is logged against the helper who took it.

Paying for a setup built to hide the link

Antidetect browsers and a proxy per account cost money every month and hide a connection eBay allows you to have. The only thing they're good for on eBay is the evasion its policy bans.

Which IP type, if you use one at all

eBay publishes no rule about IPs, and the views below are our advice, not its rules. For the general reasoning behind accounts and IPs, see how many accounts per mobile proxy.

ConnectionWhat it looks likeOur view for eBay
Your home or office lineAn ordinary subscriberRight for all your own accounts
Dedicated mobile lineA phone on a US carrier, shared with ordinary subscribers through CGNATOnly for a client who wants their store reached from a fixed US address
Residential poolSomeone's home address, rotated between customersNo reason to use it for selling
Datacenter or VPNA hosting company's addressShared with strangers; nothing to gain for a seller
Free proxy listsA stranger's serverNever for an account that holds your bank details

Does eBay block VPNs?

eBay's policies we read don't ban them. A shared VPN or datacenter address carries other people's history, which is IP reputation, and you can't see what that history is. Our view: an account that signs in from somewhere new every day is harder to keep clear of security checks, not easier. For an account that holds your payouts, there's no upside worth that.

How many eBay accounts per IP would we run?

Our recommendation: all of your own accounts on your normal connection. Mobile carriers already put many subscribers behind each address through CGNAT, and homes and offices share one address between everyone in them, so several accounts on one IP is ordinary. The number that matters to eBay is how each account behaves, not how many share a router.

Where White Cloak fits

We sell dedicated US mobile proxies, so weigh this accordingly: you almost certainly don't need one for eBay. Multiple accounts on one connection are allowed, Team access covers staff, and a proxy can't untie your name and bank account from the accounts that share them. Where our product does earn its place is platforms with different rules, like Craigslist, where posting location matters, and why your Craigslist post isn't showing up explains that one. For social accounts run by an agency, see mobile proxies for social media agencies, and you can test a line on the free trial.

Need a dedicated US carrier IP for work eBay doesn't cover? HTTP and SOCKS5 credentials are issued instantly.

Frequently asked questions

Can you have multiple eBay accounts?

Yes. eBay's multiple accounts policy says users may have multiple accounts, for example one for buying and one for selling, or separate accounts for different product lines. Each needs its own email address and username.

Can I have multiple eBay accounts on the same IP address?

Yes. eBay's help describes opening a second account on the same computer by signing out and registering again, and sets no rule about IP addresses. Its rules are about how the accounts are used.

Can I use the same email for two eBay accounts?

No. eBay says you can open more than one account as long as each uses a different email address and username. Moving an email from one account to another means removing it and waiting 60 days.

Can I have multiple eBay accounts for selling?

Yes. Separate product lines are one of the reasons eBay gives for multiple accounts. Each selling account has to meet eBay's seller standards on its own.

What happens to my other eBay accounts if one is restricted?

eBay says that if it applies restrictions or limits to one account, similar restrictions or limits may be applied to the member's other linked accounts. If you think accounts were linked in error, you can contact eBay to appeal.

Can I open a new eBay account if mine was suspended?

Not to get round it. eBay's policy doesn't allow registering new accounts or using existing ones to avoid restrictions, limits or other policy consequences. Resolve or appeal the issue on the original account.

Can I bid on my own item from another eBay account?

No. eBay says you can't use more than one account for activity related to the same listing, including bidding on an item you're selling from another account.

How do I let someone else manage my eBay store?

Use Team access in My eBay. You invite another eBay user, choose their permissions, and they work in Seller Hub without your password. eBay requires them to use two-factor authentication and sets no limit on how many people you can add.

How do I create another eBay account?

Sign out of your current account, go to eBay's Registration page, and register with an email address and username that aren't on your other account. If you sign up with Google, Apple or Facebook, use a login with a different email.

Do I need a proxy for multiple eBay accounts?

No. eBay allows multiple accounts on one connection, and Team access covers staff. Your name, address and bank details link your accounts whatever IP they use.
