Dedicated IP

A dedicated IP is an address assigned to one customer at a time, so nobody else's traffic leaves through it while it is yours. The opposite is a shared pool, where an address is handed to whoever needs one and passed on again afterward.

Why it matters when you buy proxies

• The reputation is yours. Everything the site has seen from that address, it saw from you — see IP reputation.
• Rate limits are yours. On a shared address, someone else's request volume counts against the same ceiling you are working under.
• The address is stable. It does not change until you change it, which is what makes long sticky sessions possible without a timer.
• Failures are diagnosable. When something breaks you can rule out the other people using the address, because there are none.

Read the wording carefully

"Dedicated" is used loosely in this market. Some providers mean a dedicated port into a shared backconnect pool, which is not a dedicated address at all. The question worth asking is simple: while I hold this, does anyone else's traffic leave from this IP?

A concrete example

You sign into an account on Monday and come back on Thursday. On a dedicated address the platform sees the same IP it saw on Monday, which is exactly what a real person's connection looks like. On a shared pool you arrive from a different address in a different city, on a connection that fifty other people have used in between — and the account gets a verification prompt you then have to clear.
