How to Manage Multiple Twitch Accounts (2026)
Yes, you can have more than one Twitch account. Twitch's help center says "Additional Twitch accounts can be created at any time" as long as you follow its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. One phone number can verify several accounts with no extra steps, and a setting lets you reuse an email. You don't need a proxy for any of it.
What gets Twitch accounts suspended isn't owning two. It's using an alt to pad your own viewer count, to subscribe to yourself for the Plus Program, or to get back on after a suspension. Those are all banned by name, and a different IP address doesn't change any of them. So we'd tell almost everyone reading this not to buy one.
What Twitch allows
Is it allowed to have multiple Twitch accounts?
Yes. Twitch's Creating an Account article has a whole section called Creating Additional Twitch Accounts, and it says they "can be created at any time granted you adhere to the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines." That's as clear a yes as a platform gives.
Does Twitch ever recommend a second account?
It does. The DJ Program FAQ suggests that if you stream DJ content only now and then, you create "a separate, additional account dedicated to your DJ streams". So a second channel for a different kind of content is a setup Twitch itself points people to.
How many Twitch accounts can you have?
Twitch doesn't publish a cap, so we won't invent one. The pages we read set rules per email and per phone number, covered below, but no total per person.
When shouldn't you make a second account?
When you've lost the first one. Twitch says "Don't create a new account if you're trying to recover an existing one", and its own advice for that case is "You probably don't need a second account." Use the recovery tool or a password reset instead, and you keep your followers.
How old do you have to be?
Thirteen. Twitch asks for a date of birth on every account and says it "requires users to be at least 13 years old". That applies to each extra account too.
Same email, same phone number
Most of the searches around this topic are about reusing an email or a number, so here's each rule from Twitch's own pages.
Can I use the same phone number for multiple Twitch accounts?
Yes, and it's the easy route. Twitch says "You can use the same verified phone number on more than one Twitch account" and "You don't need to change any settings on your other accounts." Enter the number at sign-up and verify it with the code.
What kind of phone number does Twitch accept?
A mobile number. Twitch's sign-up requirements say "mobile only, no landlines or VOIP". It sends a 6-digit code by text, and you've got 5 minutes to enter it.
Can I have multiple Twitch accounts using the same email address?
Yes, but you have to switch it on first. Once an email is verified on an account, Twitch blocks more accounts on it "to prevent abusive behavior against you", so a stranger can't sign up with your address. To allow one, go to Settings on the original account and turn on Enable additional account creation.
How many accounts does the email setting allow?
One at a time. Twitch says turning the setting on "will allow you to register a single additional account." It doesn't say how many times you can repeat that, so if you need several accounts, the phone number route is the one Twitch documents without limits.
How to enable additional account creation on Twitch mobile
Twitch's help center puts the setting in your account Settings, on the account that already uses the email. Answers on r/Twitch and the YouTube tutorials on page one place it under Security and Privacy. What we'd do: if you can't find it in the app, open twitch.tv in your phone's browser and switch it on there.
Why does Twitch say my email is linked to multiple accounts?
Because of social login. Twitch's FAQ says social login won't work with an email address that's associated with multiple Twitch accounts. If you signed up with Google, Apple or Amazon and that email now sits on two Twitch accounts, log in with your username and password instead, or use a different email on one of them.
I deleted an account. Why can't I reuse its email?
Deletion takes about 90 days, and the email stays linked to the old account until it's done. Twitch says phone numbers aren't affected, so you can put your number on a new account straight away.
How to set up a second Twitch account
There's nothing clever to it. These steps follow Twitch's help center, plus our advice where it says so.
Step 1: decide what the second account is for
A second channel for different content, a separate account for a chat bot or testing, or a viewer account kept apart from your channel. Our view: write the purpose down, because it's what decides which rules below matter.
Step 2: pick how you'll verify it
Your existing mobile number works with no settings change. If you'd rather use the same email, turn on Enable additional account creation on the first account before you sign up.
Step 3: sign up and choose a username
Usernames are 4 to 25 characters, and Twitch says it doesn't release inactive usernames, so check the one you want is free before you build a brand around it.
Step 4: verify both email and phone
Twitch only needs one to create the account but recommends both, for recovery and so you can chat in channels that require a verified email.
Step 5: switch with separate browser profiles
The Twitch pages we read don't describe an in-app account switcher. What we'd do: keep each account logged in to its own browser profile, or log out and in on mobile. A normal browser profile is all you need for accounts Twitch allows.
Step 6: give your team roles, not passwords
If other people help run your channel, add them through Roles Manager instead of handing over a login. The next section covers which role does what.
Let your team in without sharing a login
Twitch's Managing Roles page lists six roles. You add them from the Creator Dashboard, under Community, then Roles Manager. This is the answer to most "how do I share my Twitch account" questions.
| Role | What it can do | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Editor | Edit stream info, run ads, upload and edit videos, start reruns, download past broadcasts, manage clips | A producer or video editor |
| Moderator | Warn, time out or ban users, set chat modes, run polls and Predictions | Chat moderation |
| Lead Moderator | Everything a moderator does, plus manage the mod team and VIPs, and most moderation settings | Your head mod |
| VIP | Chat past slow, sub-only and follower-only modes and rate limits, post links | Regulars you trust |
| Artist | A badge for people who made your emotes, overlays or avatars, five per channel | Your designers |
| Business Manager | Analytics, Stream Summary, Earnings Analytics, Sponsorships; no Revenue/Payouts | A manager or agency, up to five |
Can I share my Twitch account with a moderator?
Don't. The Community Guidelines ban selling or sharing user accounts, and roles exist so you never have to. A moderator gets every chat tool on their own account.
Who can add an Editor?
Only you. Twitch says only the channel owner can add or remove the Lead Moderator, Editor and Artist roles, so a mod can't promote someone to Editor behind your back.
Can a manager see my payouts?
No. Twitch says Business Managers can't view the Revenue/Payouts section of the Creator Dashboard or change your payout method. They have to accept the role and confirm they're at least 18 before they get access.
What Twitch bans
None of Twitch's rules punish you for owning two accounts. They punish what an extra account gets used for. Here's each one in Twitch's words, from the Community Guidelines and the Plus Program abuse criteria:
| Rule | Twitch's words | What it means for multiple accounts |
|---|---|---|
| Suspension evasion | Getting round a suspension or chat ban "by using other accounts or identities" | An alt can't be the way back in, and it adds enforcement "up to an indefinite suspension" |
| Viewership tampering | "artificially inflating follow or live viewer stats" | Alts can't pad your follows or viewers |
| Plus Program | No "multiple accounts subscribing to your channel for the purpose of qualifying" | You can't sub to yourself to qualify |
| Account sales | No selling or sharing user accounts, services or features | Use roles; don't buy an established channel |
| Fraud | No defrauding Twitch or others | Covers alts used to farm rewards or payouts |
| Suspended guests | You may not feature a suspended user on your stream as a guest | A suspended friend can't co-stream through your channel |
Can you get banned for having multiple Twitch accounts?
Not for having them. Twitch allows additional accounts in writing. You can get suspended for what you do with them, and the suspension evasion rule says enforcement lands on "your accounts", plural, so one alt breaking a rule can drag the others in.
Can I make a new Twitch account if I'm suspended?
No. Twitch says any attempt to circumvent a suspension or chat ban "by using other accounts or identities will also result in an additional enforcement against your accounts, up to an indefinite suspension." If you think the suspension was a mistake, Twitch has an appeals process. Use it instead.
Can I use a second account to watch my own stream?
The rules ban "artificially inflating follow or live viewer stats". Twitch's pages we read don't say anything about one tab of your own stream for checking audio. Our view: watch your output in OBS or on a muted phone, and don't leave alts sitting in your own chat. A viewer count you have to explain isn't worth one extra.
Can my alt account subscribe to my channel?
Not to qualify for the Plus Program. Twitch says paid subs used to qualify "must be from individual, real accounts", and creating multiple accounts to subscribe for that purpose can mean temporary or permanent disqualification. Widespread abuse can mean removal from the Partner program.
What if someone viewbots my channel to get me in trouble?
Twitch's Plus Program page says it knows streamers can be "victims of account takeover, fraud, or viewbotting directed by a bad actor", and that it tries to detect which party is responsible. If you're disqualified unfairly, you can appeal through the Help Portal.
Will Twitch ban you for multistreaming?
It's one of the top questions on this search, but streaming to several platforms at once isn't a multiple-accounts rule, and the Twitch pages we read for this guide don't cover it. Check Twitch's current Terms of Service and any Partner or Affiliate agreement you've signed before you rely on a vendor blog's answer.
First month on a second channel
Twitch doesn't publish a ramp-up plan for a second channel, so this is our recommendation. The aim is a channel that builds its own audience instead of borrowing the first one's numbers.
| Weeks | What to do | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Set the profile, category and schedule for the new content; verify email and phone | Copying the first channel's name so closely viewers get confused |
| 2 | Stream at a fixed time; give your trusted mods roles on the new channel too | Leaving your main account logged in as a viewer to fill the count |
| 3-4 | Mention the new channel on the first one's streams if it fits, or raid into it | Asking friends to follow from alt accounts |
| 5+ | Let it stand on its own numbers | Subscribing to it from your other accounts |
The rules Twitch publishes
Here's what Twitch has put in writing. Anything not in this table, like accounts per IP or per device, isn't published, and a guide quoting you a number for it is guessing.
| Rule | Twitch's answer | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Additional accounts | Allowed, at any time, within the Terms and Guidelines | Creating an Account with Twitch |
| Same phone number | Allowed on more than one account, no settings change | Creating an Account with Twitch |
| Phone type | Mobile only, no landlines or VOIP | Creating an Account with Twitch |
| Same email | Turn on Enable additional account creation; one additional account each time | Creating an Account with Twitch |
| Social login with a shared email | Not supported | Creating an Account with Twitch |
| New account after a suspension | Not allowed, up to an indefinite suspension | Community Guidelines |
| Alts inflating viewers or follows | Not allowed | Community Guidelines |
| Alts subscribing for Plus Program | Not allowed, disqualification | Plus Program abuse criteria |
| Business Managers per channel | Up to five | Managing Roles |
| Accounts per IP or device | Not published | - |
What links Twitch accounts together
Twitch doesn't publish how it connects accounts for enforcement. Here's what it plainly can see, and which of those a proxy changes. The strongest links are ones Twitch shows you itself.
Email and phone number
Twitch's recovery tool will send you "a list of ALL accounts linked to" an email or phone number. So Twitch keeps that list, and every account you verify with your own number is on it. That's fine for accounts the rules allow.
Payment and payout details
The card behind your subs and Bits, and the payout method on a monetised channel. No proxy touches either.
Social logins
A Google, Apple or Amazon login ties a Twitch account to that provider. Twitch says you can't disconnect one yourself once it's added.
The browser and device
Cookies and the device fingerprint. For your own allowed accounts, sharing a computer is normal and nothing in Twitch's pages says otherwise.
The IP address
Accounts used at home share it. A proxy changes this signal and only this one, and nothing Twitch publishes suggests it's the one that matters.
Behaviour
Which channels an account watches, follows, subs to and chats in. Alts that only ever show up in one streamer's chat are linked by what they do, and that's entirely up to you.
Do you need a proxy for multiple Twitch accounts?
No, in almost every case. Here's how we'd decide.
A second channel: no
Allowed in writing, verified with your own number, run from your normal connection.
A bot or testing account: no
It's an additional account like any other. Give it a mod role on your channel if it needs chat tools.
A team running your channel: no
That's what the six roles are for. Each person uses their own account from wherever they are.
Alts to boost viewers or follows: no, and nothing here helps
Viewership tampering is banned whatever IP the views come from, and Twitch works to detect it.
A new account after a suspension: no, and nothing here helps
Suspension evasion is banned and adds enforcement to your other accounts. Appeal instead.
What antidetect-browser guides leave out
Page one for this search includes vendors selling a separate browser fingerprint and proxy per Twitch account. Twitch doesn't ban the accounts you'd open in the open, and it lets one phone number verify all of them. The only reason to hide the link between them is to do something its rules name: dodge a suspension, inflate a count, or sub to yourself.
Mistakes that get Twitch accounts suspended
Leaving alts in your own stream
Viewer stats inflated by your own accounts are the viewership tampering rule, word for word.
Following yourself from alt accounts
The same rule names follow stats, not just live viewers.
Subscribing to yourself to reach Plus
Qualifying subs have to come from individual, real accounts, and you can lose Plus eligibility over it.
Coming back on a new account after a chat ban
Chat bans count. Twitch's rule covers "an account suspension or chat ban", not just full suspensions.
Co-streaming with a suspended friend
Featuring a suspended user as a guest is banned, even in a group stream.
Handing your password to a mod or editor
Sharing accounts is banned and roles do the job safely.
Buying an established channel
Selling user accounts is banned under the same rule, and you'd inherit whatever its history is.
Making a new account instead of recovering one
Not a ban, just a loss. Your followers stay on the old account, and Twitch's recovery tool lists every account on your email or number.
Which IP type, if you use one at all
Twitch publishes no rule about IPs for multiple accounts, and the views below are our advice, not its rules. For the general reasoning behind accounts and IPs, see how many accounts per mobile proxy.
| Connection | What it looks like | Our view for Twitch |
|---|---|---|
| Home broadband or phone data | An ordinary subscriber | Right for all your own accounts, and for streaming |
| Dedicated mobile line | A phone on a US carrier, shared with ordinary subscribers through CGNAT | Nothing to gain for your own accounts |
| Residential pool | Someone's home address, rotated between customers | No reason to use it on Twitch |
| Datacenter or VPN | A hosting company's address | Shared with strangers; nothing to gain |
| Free proxy lists | A stranger's server | Never for an account with your card or payouts on it |
Does Twitch care about VPNs?
The Guidelines mention VPNs once, in the gambling section: Twitch takes into account "whether streamers use or encourage VPNs to evade geoblocking". Nothing we read bans a VPN for ordinary viewing. A shared VPN or datacenter address does carry other people's history, which is IP reputation, and you can't see what that history is.
How many Twitch accounts per IP would we run?
Our recommendation: all of your own accounts on your normal connection. Households share one router, and mobile carriers already put many subscribers behind each address through CGNAT, so several accounts on one IP is ordinary. What Twitch's rules care about is what each account does.
Where White Cloak fits
We sell dedicated US mobile proxies, so weigh this accordingly: you almost certainly don't need one for Twitch. Additional accounts are allowed, one phone number verifies them all, roles replace shared logins, and the things Twitch bans are about behaviour, not addresses. It's the same story on YouTube and Discord, which both allow more than one account in writing. Where our product does earn its place is work like running client accounts for a social media agency, TikTok and Instagram account management, or X/Twitter, where we explain what an IP can and can't change. You can test a line on the free trial.

Frequently asked questions
Is it allowed to have multiple Twitch accounts?
Yes. Twitch's help center says additional Twitch accounts can be created at any time, as long as you follow its Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.
Can I have multiple Twitch accounts using the same email address?
Yes. Turn on Enable additional account creation in Settings on the account that already uses the email. Twitch says this lets you register a single additional account.
Can I use the same phone number on multiple Twitch accounts?
Yes. Twitch lets you verify the same mobile number on more than one account, with no settings change on the others. Landlines and VOIP numbers aren't accepted.
Why does Twitch say my email is linked to multiple accounts?
Twitch's social login with Google, Apple or Amazon doesn't support email addresses associated with more than one Twitch account. Log in with your username and password, or use a different email on one account.
Can I make a new Twitch account if I'm suspended?
No. Twitch's Community Guidelines say any attempt to get round a suspension or chat ban using other accounts results in additional enforcement against your accounts, up to an indefinite suspension. Twitch has an appeals process for mistakes.
Can you get banned for having multiple Twitch accounts?
Not for having them. Twitch bans using them for suspension evasion, inflating follow or live viewer stats, subscribing to your own channel to qualify for the Plus Program, and selling or sharing accounts.
Can my alt account subscribe to my own channel?
Not to qualify for the Plus Program. Twitch says qualifying paid subs must come from individual, real accounts, and creating multiple accounts to subscribe for that purpose can lead to disqualification.
How do I let someone help run my Twitch channel?
Give them a role from the Creator Dashboard under Community, then Roles Manager. Twitch offers Editor, Moderator, Lead Moderator, VIP, Artist and Business Manager, so nobody needs your password.
Can I reuse an email from a deleted Twitch account?
Not until deletion finishes, which takes about 90 days. Phone numbers aren't affected and can go on a new account straight away.
Do I need a proxy for multiple Twitch accounts?
No. Twitch allows additional accounts verified with your own phone number, and the behaviour it bans, like inflating viewers or evading a suspension, is banned whatever IP it comes from.
